Privacy policy

Effective 5 October 2026

This policy explains how Youth Readiness, run by Simplifico (Pty) Ltd (registration 2025/124440/07) through the Simplifico Foundation, handles information. We follow the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

What we collect

You do not need an account to learn. We never ask for your ID number, race, gender or disability status.

Visitor statistics

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which skills and tools are used most (for example, how many people started a skill or finished a stage). It uses cookies and collects device and approximate location data, but not your name or contact details. We use it only to improve the platform.

Mentor check-ins (optional)

If you join mentor check-ins, we store your first name, the email address or WhatsApp number you give us, your mentor code, the date you agreed, and your progress (skills started, stages completed and the days you studied). If you tick the box to share them, we also store your proof-of-work answers. This is kept in a Google Sheet that only the Simplifico Foundation and your mentor can see, and is used only to check in with you about your learning. We never sell it or use it for advertising. You can stop at any time from My learning, which deletes your details and progress from our records. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree before you join.

Your progress stays on your device

Your skills, tasks, streak and tool scores are stored in your own browser (local storage). Unless you join mentor check-ins, they are not sent to us. If you clear your browser or change device, they are gone unless you download a backup from My learning.

The tools

The CV Scanner reads your file inside your browser. Your CV is not uploaded to us or anyone else. The same applies to everything you type into the other tools.

YouTube videos

Lessons are YouTube videos shown in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). YouTube does not load until you press play. Once a video plays, YouTube's own privacy policy applies.

Links to other sites

We link to free resources and job sites run by others. Their privacy policies apply when you visit them.

Your rights and contact

You have the right to see, correct or delete any information we hold about you. If you joined mentor check-ins, you can delete your details yourself from My learning, or ask us to.
